What's New in Digi Land?

Have you ever noticed how much drama is in the digital scrapbooking world? It is all over the place. I can't stand it. She said this, she said that. You are friends with her, you aren't friends with her. You didn't say this and you should have. It is crazy! Do you ever feel that way?

I'm just glad that the creative teams I am on now aren't that way. Neither is Ginger Scraps. This is my hobby/job and I don't like having to worry about what I say. I am finally relaxed and happy now. This is the way things should be.

Now that I said that - what do you think about my blogwear? I made it from Colie's Corner's Stolen Moments. I just love this kit, in fact our entire CT has flipped over it. One even made the comment she would leave her husband and marry it if she could. Yes - it is that good...lol. Don't we have a funny CT?

Here is my layout with Stolen Moments:

Love

Another thing that is what is happening at Ginger Scraps. We are working with Persnickety Prints to offer you a 10% coupon. That's right - all you have to do is enter Ginger Scrap's exclusive coupon code at Persnickety Prints and you can save! That is 10% off EVERYTHING they have - calendars, holiday cards, albums, pictures, layouts, etc.

Last and certainly not least - have you seen Connie Prince's new kit? Comfort and Joy can be found only at Scrapbook Graphics. Here is my layout with it.

I'm Awful at Blogging!

I swear I have no idea why I'm constantly putting off my blogging. I think it has to do with not being sure what to say. I blog every day for Ginger Scraps but that is easy in that I know I just have to put up the daily download links. I blog once a month for Plum Dumpling, and Trixie Scraps. Maybe that is why it is so hard? Blogging too much for other people and not enough for me? Maybe I should make myself blog here before I do for others.

Oh I didn't tell you I got on Plum Dumpling's CT? Yeah, I know I said I was going to cut back on my CT's so I could work more for GS. I just love Plum Dumplings designs too much to resist being on her team. I've done two layouts for her so far this month.

This one was made with Black and Blue which is a collab between Plum Dumpling and Stolen Moments.
The Flu

This one was made with Funny Face.
Silly Boy

I've been working really hard planning the Halloween Bash for GingerScraps. We have so much planned - Bingo, Contests, Blog Train, Sales - just a lot of fun stuff.

I've also been working making plans for Digital Scrapbooking Day - we have a huge sale planned. Did I tell you I was doing the Battle of the Creative Teams at DSA? I'm on Colie's team. We can use your vote! While you are at it vote for the GingerBread Girls (GingerScraps' CT).

I guess you can say I've been busy. I guess you can say I have a lot going on. But either way, I have to make sure I'm spending time working on me (and yes, that means my diet too...lol).

New CT

As some of you may or may not have known, I was lucky enough to be on Connie Prince's Guest CT for September. Imagine my surprise and excitement when they asked me to stay...maybe it had to do with my begging. (Sorry Linda...lol).

You have no idea how much that made my day!

Here are some of the layouts I did for Connie this month:

This one was using Street Smarts by Connie Prince and Chelle Creations. Yes, by Street Smarts, they mean Sesame Street of course! It was perfect for my pictures from Sesame Place. This layout captures our Elmo's World experience.
Here is one using Dough-Re-Mi by Connie Prince and Bella Gypsy (aka Threeology). I didn't have any pictures on hand when I got the kit so I decided it was time for Nathan to play...he wasn't upset at all.
Those are the two kits that came out on Friday. I would show you all of my layouts, but let's just say I've never scrapped so much in one month as I've done for just Connie. It was so worth it! Here is my gallery at DST if you are interested in seeing some of my other stuff.

That's it for now! Have a great weekend!

Spelling Bee!

My oldest son was in a spelling bee! Isn't that exciting? Now the question you should ask was when! "Shan, when was Alex in the spelling bee?". I'm so glad you asked. It was June 17....2009. Yes you read that right - over a year ago! This was the spring of his 2nd grade year. He just started 4th grade. I suppose you can say these pictures weren't top on my "to scrap" list.

Actually it was. I did scrap it but I never liked the layout. The journaling was all off, and I just didn't like how it flowed. Here is the original layout (I can't remember who was the designer of the kit I used - sorry).

Alex Spelling Bee

Yeah, it wasn't that great. I joined a new CT (Sherry Ferguson) and used her Pollen Nation to make a new layout. I think this one turned out even better. I must say though, I'm so glad I did the other one right away, I forgot so much of the information. I guess after a year or so my memory isn't that sharp...lol.

Anyway, here is my new one

New Look!

I'm such a slacker. I need to get better at blogging. I get so wrapped up in real life, my scrapping life, and managing Ginger Scraps that I forget all about this place. I hope to change that..lol.

I just updated the look of this blog using Trixie Scraps Designs and Connie Prince's new kit "Take Me Away". I love the grown up look to this kit. Reading is such a big deal in my life that I'm just excited there is finally a kit that can capture this!

Here is the kit (image linked):

Here is my layout with it (used template in the bundle):

Here is the blogwear:

Wizarding Magic Blog Train!

Hello Train Riders!! How are you enjoying the train? I'm glad you made it here from Fran's Blog.

For those of you who just stumbled across my blog - you have found a blog train to celebrate the release of a brand new kit called Wizarding Magic. This was made by HayNay Designs, Happy Girl Designs, Chelle Creations, and Creations by Rachael.

I can't tell you how excited I was when I first saw this kit. We are huge Harry Potter fans here. My son going into the 4th grade has read the 1st four books, and is half way through the 5th. Last year his school had a character parade where the kids had to dress up as their favorite character from a book. Guess what he picked? Yup! Harry Potter.

Here is the layout I made with this kit!!

Photobucket

Now for why you are here - the blog train. I made you a frame cluster just like the one on my layout. I hope you like it!

Don't forget to check out the chat tomorrow night!

Your next step on the train is Diana's Blog - http://fivehermans.blogspot.com
If you get lost feel free to check out you can go back to Haynay's Blog

Love, Back 2 Skool, and Sales!

It's amazing. I mean truly amazing. Two of my designers have released kits today. Ok, that isn't the amazing part. The amazing part is that I have my layouts done for today AND I'm actually blogging about it. Aren't you shocked? I know I am.

First let me just mention that this weekend at GingerScraps is New Release Weekend. Well, then again, every weekend is New Release Weekend. What does that mean exactly? It means every new release is 25% for the entire weekend! Yes, you read that right - 25% off!

Ok, now that business has been taken care of let me show off some of the stuff I've been working on.

LDrag Designs has partnered up with JennCK Designs to put together this awesome new collab called Love Is!

Isn't it awesome? I decided it would be awesome to do a layout for my 10th wedding anniversary (which happens to be today). Here is my layout:

Now for a cute back to school it. Haynay Designs has just released a kit called Back 2 Skool. I love the grown up feel to it. Here, take a look and I'll let you decide.

What do you think? Really cute right?

For this kit I wanted to scrap a layout about my husband. He is working on finishing his Bachelor's degree. I'm so excited for him and I wanted to capture this moment.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

SS at SM On Sunday

Long Time No Talk!

Wow, it's been awhile. So much as changed in my scrapping life. Let's see where to start. I've been asked to become the site manager at GingerScraps. Those of you that have known me at Scrapable, know that I haven't found a "home" since I left. I can honestly say I found my new home. Everyone there is so nice and friendly, it was definitely a smart move for me. The best part is some of my Scrapable designers are there! I'm so excited to be working with them again!

My creative teams have changed around a bit. I'm very happy with how things have worked out. I'm still Colie's Corner CT Lead, boy I love her. I'm still on Trixie Scraps team, Haynay Designs, and Neverland Scraps. I also just joined LDrag Designs' team. That was a huge surprise that I made that team...lol. Plus this month I'm guesting for Spinky Dink Scraps. I'm having a blast there. Next month I get to guest for Connie Prince! You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to that. I guess you can say I'm very busy with my scrapping! I couldn't be any happier.

I guess that is really all that is going on!

Until next time!

Our Garden

Our family has been very hard at work building a garden. We took a 25' x 25' section of our yard and decided to turn it into a garden. It took about a week just to get rid of all the grass. It was an incredible process. Who knew grass could be so heavy! After the grass was all gone, we had tons
and tons of rocks to get rid of. I'm talking rocks of all shapes and sizes. We had about 5 boulders that needed to be moved (ouch!) and too many other rocks to count. We finally got the garden
emptied (for the most part) of those stupid rocks, but found other things in there. It turns out this section of the yard was the dump site for the trash when our house was being built. No wonder we had drainage problems!

Today we finally got our garden finished. We have cucumbers, tomatoes, hot peppers, Japanese eggplant, carrots, watermelon, sweet corn, broccoli, and herbs growing - at least we hope they will grow.

I'm so proud of all of our hard work that I decided to scrap pictures of it. I used Trixie Scraps Designs' new kit - My Summer Garden. You can find the kit at Scrap Matters and Gotta Pixel.

Now I get to look forward to weeding and watering. Hopefully the veggies and fruits will grow to make all of the hard work worth it.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

What do you do with your layouts?

I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out what to do with my layouts? Do I print them? Do I do a book with them? Are they even good enough to put them in a book?

I know some friends do yearly family books. I was thinking I was going to do that, but then what about all those school events? Then I talked to my friend Tabby (Scrapberry Designs) and she said she is making a book for her kids of their school years. I thought that was a great idea - but then I started wondering more. Can you tell I think too much about non-important stuff?

Do I put my school layouts only in the school album? Do I include them in the family album too? If I do that then why do I need a school album? If I do a school album that I will print/buy after I scrap their high school graduation pictures, etc in it - should I redo the school layouts I did before in paper?

I guess it comes down to how many albums do my kids really want to carry around with them as they move on with their adult life? Will they even want them? That then brings me back to the beginning - should I just save them all to a DVD and not print any?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Been Awhile Huh?

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted. I think between my family and then the Queen of Scrap contest at Scrap Matters I haven't had much time. Now it seems the teachers at my kids' school are throwing all the events they can for the kids. That means that I'm living at the school. Thankfully school will be done on the 22nd.

I hope once the kids are home I'll be able to start writing more.

April Vacation Starts

It is official - my kids are on vacation. I have mixed feelings about this. I'm sad to be losing "my" time during the day when Nathan naps, but at the same time, not having to rush out in the morning or afternoon to drop off or pick up the boys will be nice. I have some days planned with stuff to keep them sane, and other days we'll be home just relaxing.

The relaxing started this weekend with scrapping for me. I was able to once again get caught up with my designers' new releases - and some soon to be released kits (which you'll have to wait to see). Let's see, where shall I start?

I'll start with Haynay Designs today since she always seems to be last when I show off kits. Her newest kit is "Happy Birthday to You" that just came out of Friday. It is a great birthday kit. This is definitely one kit you will want to add to your collection.

Here is the layout I made from Alex's 8th birthday last year.

OMG! I completely forgot to tell you guys some real exciting news! Danielle Corbitt is being featured at The Digi Files. Here is the kit she made for the special occasion:

This is the layout I made with it:

One of my designers has been a busy little bee lately. Tracy of Trixie Scraps Designs has made two kits - yes, you read that right two. She partnered up with Sarah Bennett for one kit called "Sunday Afternoon". The colors are just incredible in this kit.

I made this layout of my Great-Grandmother and the boys. My Great-Grandmother just turned 102 years old, I'm so glad my kids were able to meet her. I also used Tracy's new templates called "Star Struck Templates vol : Beth"

The other kit that Tracy made is Defining Me. This is a great kit for all of those layouts we need to start making of ourselves.

Last and certainly not least - Colie has made an awesome playground kit. As soon as I saw it I knew I which picture I had to use.

and you can't forget the matching word art

This was from our vacation to Hershey, PA last year

So that what I've been up to lately. Have a great rest of your Sunday!
